Nanyang Technological University has launched a professorship scheme to attract worldwide academic talent.
Termed the NTU’s Distinguished University Professorship, the scheme recognizes and rewards academics whose research spans multiple disciplines and who have distinguished themselves internationally.
Professor Subra Suresh, NTU’s president-designate, will be the first to receive the new professorship. It is expected there will be no more than 12 such distinguished professors at any given time.
The distinguished professors will receive an annual research fund which will depend on the scope of their research work. The professors will also be encouraged to present lectures and supervise students or post-doctoral fellows at NTU.
