Undergraduate students of the Singapore University of Technology and Design have been successful in securing jobs even before graduation. It is in fact noteworthy that for SUTD students, the employment rate at the point of graduation this year is over 60 percent, over 15 percentage points higher than in 2016. One quarter of undergraduates received return offers from companies where they served an internship during their study years.
The success experienced by SUTD undergraduates in securing a foothold in the job market has been attributed to SUTD having equipped its students with relevant skills aligned with Singapore’s push towards becoming a Smart Nation.
SUTD offer students a multi-disciplinary education, with curricula encompassing areas like engineering, design and the humanities.
Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) Ong Ye Kung, who was the guest of honour at SUTD’s third graduation ceremony held earlier this month, said that SUTD has “delivered a stellar report card” for a young university.
SUTD graduates earned the highest median monthly salary of $3,650 across all local universities, according to the 2016 Joint Graduate Employment Survey.
