The Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), which was formerly named SIM University or UniSIM, will be expanding its slate of full time degree courses and increasing its annual intake of students to 1,000 in the next few years.
SUSS, which is Singapore’s sixth autonomous university, will pay particular attention to socially oriented programmes such as business analytics, early childhood education, urban studies and environmental studies.
SUSS also has around 13,000 part-time students enrolled in 60 courses ranging from counselling to accounting. As the university seeks to become a champion of lifelong learning, it will be expanding its programme offerings for adult learners and work with the SkillsFuture Singapore Agency and companies to develop industry-relevant courses and content.
According to SUSS president Cheong Hee Kiat, most of the university’s part-time students have three to five years of work experience and attain their degrees in four to five years. He expects demand for its part-time degree courses to remain healthy, partly because of the SkillsFuture initiative.
