Last week, Singapore students gained access to some 400,000 used textbooks at various distribution centres such as Changi City Point, City Square Mall, Warehouse Club, Gan Eng Seng School and Yio Chu Kang Secondary School.
The textbooks were amassed by NTUC FairPrice from its departmental stores and made available to needy families under the Share-a-Textbook programme.
Some 20,000 students from low-income households were given priority access. The books were made available to the general public later.
Books distributed included primary to tertiary level textbooks, dictionaries, and encyclopaedias.
