A group of first year students of the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) have designed a wristband that can alert the user if he or she is a prime target for mosquitoes.
The Mosquito Early Warning Wristband reads the user’s blood type, surrounding temperatures and sweat levels, and compares the readings against the wearer’s location with the National Environment Agency’s dengue cluster map.
This innovation is one of the many projects displayed at a recently-held exhibition at SUTD.
Other projects on display include an adjustable vest meant for cyclists which consists of strips of light-emitting diodes placed on the shoulders, as well as brake lights in the back.
