Five teachers have received the Arif Budiman Malay Language Teachers’ Award from Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at a ceremony held recently at the Marina Mandarin hotel.
They are Madam Rashidah Abdullah, Mr Azhar Abdul Rashid, Madam Azah Abdul Aziz, Madam Norafizah Shariff, and Madam Siti Zainab Zainal.
Speaking in Malay during the award ceremony, PM Lee said that teachers can “seed knowledge on heritage, culture and values in students”, thus contributing to our multicultural Singaporean spirit and identity.
He also urged teachers to continually upgrade themselves both professionally and academically in order to more effectively “instil a similar zest for lifelong learning in our youth”.
The award recipients received a sponsorship for an overseas professional development programme, and a certificate of achievement.
