More students are getting a taste of working life while waiting for their university terms to start.
More than half of the 100 students surveyed by the Straits Times are now in part-time or temporary jobs, and more than a third of them are interning, while waiting for their varsity terms to begin in August to October.
Nearly all the part-time or temporary jobs are in the food & beverage or tuition industries, while internship positions range from those in statutory boards to design firms.
More students are also taking gap years — a full year break from education in order to pursue their interests or work.
