The Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced that students who wish to apply for direct admission into Singapore’s Junior Colleges and Secondary Schools may do so starting from the month of May. Those applying for early admission to polytechnics may do so from June.
From this year onwards, both the Direct Polytechnic Admission (DPA) Exercise as well as the Joint Polytechnic Special Admissions Exercise (JPSAE) will be folded into the Early Admissions Exercise (EAE). All five polytechnics are participating in the EAE.
Students participating in the Direct School Admission-Junior College (DSA-JC) Exercise are expected to meet the minimum requirements for their course of choice. A total of 22 Junior Colleges are participating in this Exercise. Successful applicants will be given a provisional offer before they take their GCE O-Level examinations. The offer is conditional on their ability to meet the baseline GCE O-Level examination criteria for admission to a Junior College.
“Through the EAE, students can apply for admission based on their aptitudes and interests in the specific courses that they have applied for. Students with exceptional talents in areas such as leadership, community service, sports and arts may also be considered,” MOE said.
