The National Research Foundation (NRF) and the Ministry of Education (MOE) have jointly organized a comprehensive outreach and research programme designed to promote science among students through experiential learning.
Called the National Science Experiment (NSE) project, it aims to enlist 250,000 students by 2017 from primary schools to junior colleges and spur them to start their own projects, for example, measuring their carbon footprints or measuring temperature and humidity differences in Singapore’s urban environment.
Deputy chief executive of Science Centre Singapore Clarence Sirisena said he is happy to see students and teachers designing their own experiments.
Meanwhile, the Science Centre is also developing classroom curriculum to complement the NSE next year.
